B.V.L.Narayana is a career bureaucrat, who is presently the Director (Passenger systems) at the Centre for Railway information systems (CRIS). He is a Fellow of the Indian institute of management, Ahmedabad in Business policy (Strategic management).
Belonging to the Indian railway traffic service, he has spent 29 years with the Indian railways in various capacities. Chief among them has been his association with the implementation of the major IT projects on Southern railway, such as the Passenger reservations, the Freight operations system and the Unreserved ticketing system. He has spent two tenures on deputation to CONCOR and RITES (the PSUs of Indian railways) . Teaching and reading have been his passion and implementation has been the field of interest in management. He has spent four years at the Railway staff college, Vadodara and taught MBA students at the MS university in Vadodara. He continues to write on various topics including transportation, organizational theory and implementation frameworks.
