Prof. Sobhesh Kumar Agarwalla is an associate professor in the finance and accounting area of the institute. He is a fellow of IIM Ahmedabad, a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), an associate member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMA) and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. He was the recipient of the Chaudhary-Padmanabhan-Pant Award for scholastic excellence at IIM Ahmedabad, Institute Gold Medal (all India) in the final examination of the ICMA and was a national level rank holder in the intermediate examination of the ICAI.
Sobhesh's research interest are in market microstructure, corporate finance, financial reporting and financial inclusion/literacy in India. He has published various papers in leading journals like Journal of futures market, World Development, International Review of Financial Analysis. He has also published many cases in the area of corporate finance, and financial reporting. One of his papers was conferred the best paper award in an international conference. He has organized three symposiums on the state of financial literacy and financial inclusion in India.
Sobhesh offers courses in financial reporting and analysis, cost and control systems, corporate finance, investment and portfolio management and valuation of firms in various long duration programs at IIM Ahmedabad. He also teaches modules in financial reporting, cost and control systems, financial analysis, corporate finance, corporate valuations, etc. in various executive development programs at IIMA.
Sobhesh is currently the Chairperson of the Finance and Accounting Area at IIM Ahmedabad.
